Before school is in full swing, you may want to head out on a road trip to see Oklahoma's latest big attraction. There's a cola craze going on along Route 66 at a place guaranteed to quench your thirst for a fun day trip. Hit the road down Route 66 and there are plenty of old landmarks that have drawn people for decades. News On 6 anchor Craig Day reports now, thereâ€™s a new one.

Pops is a modern day mother road landmark, with an old time feel, a place where you'll find fun and plenty of fizz.

"Oh, it's fantastic. All the bottle pops are really neat,â€ said Oklahoma City resident Peggy Brady.

"We're a gas station, a convenience store, a restaurant, an attraction, an icon, all of the above,â€ said Pops marketing manager Jessica Ockerhauser.

Pops features nearly 500 different kinds of pop, everything from cherry, Sopranos soda, orange mango, 50 kinds of root beer and some drinks that are so unique they haven't figured out how to describe them.

"It's cool because there are some different drinks that there are no more of around,â€ said Colorado resident Cierre Covington.

"With all the old sodas and new sodas, we have grandfathers bringing their grandchildren in saying â€˜Oh I used to drink this Moxey when I was a kidâ€™," Ockerhauser said.

With so many choices, there's no problem finding something tasty to try.

"I had a hard time deciding what to drink,â€ said Mustang resident Gary Covington.

And then there's the food.

From cheeseburgers to nachos, there is plenty for ravished road warriors taking in the sights of Route 66.

People from across the country and the world are expected to check out Pops while traveling on Route 66.

The first week it was open, Pops sold 11,000 bottles of pop. In addition to the hundreds of kinds you can get, Pops will soon set up kiosks where you can order from a selection of 1,400 different kinds and have them shipped anywhere in the United States.

It's hoped Pops will help fuel a resurgence for Route 66, while satisfying people thirsty for a modern twist along the nostalgic road.

If you're searching for fun, just look for the 66-foot tall pop bottle right outside.

"This is a place to bring your family,â€ Ockerhauser said. â€œThis is a place that when you come to Oklahoma, you've got to go see Pops."

Pops is located along Route 66 in Oklahoma County. It's about an hour and a half from Tulsa. To visit Pops from Tulsa, take the Wellston Exit on the Turner Turnpike and head west on Route 66 about 15 miles, just after Luther. The address is 660 West Highway 66 in Arcadia.
