Storms Bring More Rain To Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP)__ Another line of thunderstorms with heavy rains is moving across Oklahoma Tuesday morning. Heavy rain and some street flooding was reported in the Oklahoma City metro area. Michelann Ooten with the state Department of Emergency Management says flooding is reported in Norman and Newcastle. Ooten says flooding is likely in other areas by emergency responders haven't reported yet.

Severe thunderstorms raced across Oklahoma on Monday, causing some structural damage and torrential downpours but no immediate reports of injuries. The National Weather Service hadn't confirmed whether a twister or straight-line winds blew the roof off a Eufaula office building as a severe storm moved through McIntosh County.

In Muskogee County, the roof of a church was blown off and several houses, trees and an outbuilding were damaged about two miles east of Warner. A tornado may have been the culprit, the weather service said.

Tree damage was reported near Okemah. Winds gusts of 70 mph near Hinton and 68 mph gusts in various parts of Norman also were reported.

A motorist reported seeing a tree blocking a road in eastern Norman.

``It's like when you see the hurricane winds; it was blowing the rain sideways,'' said Gladys Hines, a Norman resident. ``It was pouring down so hard, I couldn't see.''
