OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ An Oklahoma City radio station will broadcast the first-ever University of Oklahoma athletic event in Spanish on September 8th when it airs the Miami-OU football game.
KTUZ-FM -- known as ``La Zeta'' -- did a practice run by covering the OU spring game.
If the Miami broadcast is successful, Tyler Media manager Skip Stow says he wants to discuss a long-term broadcast agreement with OU.
OU Athletic Director Joe Castiglione says the school sees it as an opportunity to expand its fan base.
Stow says Arbitron ranks the Oklahoma City radio market with 77,000 Hispanics age 12 and older, but he says some estimates place the metro area's Hispanic population at more than 200,000.
The University of Texas is the only Big 12 school with a Spanish-language network.
