(Lawton-AP) -- A former Duncan firefighter pleaded innocent to a charge of killing an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper.

Ricky Ray Malone entered the plea yesterday and a trial date is to be set in October. He's charged with first-degree murder in the December 26th shooting death of Trooper Nikky Green.

Prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty.

Prosecutors believe Malone killed Green on a rural Cotton County road as Green tried to arrest him for operating a mobile methamphetamine lab.
