(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Oklahoma lawmakers are being urged to exclude breast-feeding women from public indecency laws.

Representative John Carey of Durant also wants to exempt from jury duty breast-feeding mothers and stay-at-home moms who may have a difficult time finding childcare.

Advocacy groups also want employers to be urged to allow lactating workers flexible time to breast-feed or pump milk.

Hyphen Huffman of Oklahoma City says some people are uncomfortable with seeing breast-feeding mothers because they equate breasts with sexuality.

Studies have shown a steady increase in the number of women who nurse their children. Breast-feeding has been linked to a variety of infant health benefits.
