Clayton, a junior wide receiver, appears ready to help fill a void left by the departure of four of OU's top five reception leaders a year ago.
Clayton and Will Peoples are the only returning Sooners with more than eight catches last year. Clayton matched Trent Smith with five touchdown receptions during the 2002 season.
Wide receivers coach Darrell Wyatt says Clayton is a tremendous runner after the catch, a real big play guy.
Clayton showed his elusiveness during the Sooners' scrimmage on Tuesday, when he turned a short reception into a 46-yard touchdown catch.
