(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Oklahoma City is near the top of the list for a pro softball franchise.

The Women's Professional Softball League has met with three parties interested in owning a club based in Oklahoma City.

W-P-S-L director of expansion Sandy Biestek says Oklahoma City's history of supporting softball.

Oklahoma City hosts the Women's College World Series and his home of the Amateur Softball Association.

The pro softball league began in 1997, but struggled to keep franchises and suspended the 2001 season. League officials plan to resume play in 2002.
