The Diocese of Tulsa is getting nearly $350,000 to help it "sustain and enhance excellence among the clergy".

It's the only Roman Catholic diocese in the nation to receive one of 47 grants. The money from the Lilly Endowment will be used over the next five years for a number of projects including ministry to the Hispanic community.

Rev Dan Mueggenborg/Director of Clergy Education: "There's anywhere from 30-60,000 even more Hispanic immigrants in this part of the state and right now we have needs to develop language and cultural facilities in our ministers to reach out to them."

Mueggenborg also says the money will be used to help deepen the spiritual lives of priests and deacons.
