A Tulsa County District Court jury has decided the fate of former DHS worker Alvis Higgins.

Higgins faced 9 felony counts ranging from sexual battery to first-degree rape. The former state social worker was accused of molesting young girls. Jurors deliberated for seven hours before reaching their verdict. The jury found Higgins not guilty on 3 counts of rape. Guilty on 2 counts of lewd molestation and guilty on 1 count of sexual battery.

The News on Six spoke with a parent of one of the victims Thursday night while the jury considered the evidence. “I would like to see him be taken and put into he penitentiary for the rest of his life where he will no longer have access to children and he can not harm anymore children for the rest of his life."

Jurors recommended Higgins spend 45 years in jail and pay a $2,000 fine.
