EDMOND, Okla. (AP) -- Students at a north Edmond elementary school were kept in their classrooms after coyotes were reported on campus Thursday, police said.
Animal control officers with tranquilizer guns were sent to the school, but did not find the animals, officials then set up traps along a fenceline near a wooded area north of the school, Chu said.
Coyotes are known to roam in the area, she said.
"We have had a problem with coyotes a little bit farther north, a man has some sheep there and has had some problems with coyotes," she said.
"There's a lot of recent development in this area with a large apartment complex and homes being built in that area so the animals are on the move."
