OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Homecoming celebrations are planned for Thursday through Saturday in Tulsa and Lawton for Miss America Lauren Nelson. Nelson was crowned Miss America in January to become the sixth Miss Oklahoma to win the title and the second in a row.
A news conference is set for Thursday in Tulsa to be followed by a private luncheon with the Kiwanis Club of Tulsa which sponsors the Miss Oklahoma contest. A dinner and show will be Friday night at 7 at Cascia Hall Performing Arts Center and Nelson will crown Lindsey Miller of Tulsa as the new Miss Oklahoma.
Former Miss Americas Jane Jayroe, Shawntel Smith Wuerch and Jennifer Berry will attend the dinner and show.
Nelson will then go to her hometown of Lawton on Saturday for a rally at 1 p.m. at McMahon Memorial Auditorium and a dinner at 7 p.m. at the Fort Sill Patriot Club.
