OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- State health officials say they've confirmed the first case of flu in Oklahoma this year.

The State Health Department says influenza has been confirmed by lab testing on patients from Oklahoma and Tulsa counties. Officials say both type A and type B flu virus strains are circulating in the state.

Health Commissioner Doctor Michael Crutcher says it's still not too late to get a flu shot and most county health departments still have flu vaccines.

Flu symptoms start suddenly and typically include a fever of 100 degrees or higher, chills, headache, sore throat, cough, extreme tiredness, and body aches.

Most people recover in one to two weeks but some people develop serious and potentially life-threatening medical complications such as pneumonia.
