OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- An election recount in southeastern Oklahoma has changed one candidate's defeat into a victory.

Republican Todd Thomsen requested a recount after he lost to Democrat Darrell Nemecek by two votes in the race to represent state House District 25.

During the course of the recount, both candidates picked up an additional four votes. However, Thomsen ended up winning by two votes after four absentee ballots cast for Nemecek were thrown out by a Hughes County judge.

Nemecek has until Wednesday to appeal the recount. Otherwise, Thomsen will represent the district and give Republicans 57 of the 101 seats in the state House.
