New regulations for fishing tournaments after a big fish kill on Grand Lake.
The News on 6 first told you about hundreds of fish dying during a tournament in early July. According to the Grand River Dam Authority over 470 bass died during Central Pro Am's July tournament.
The GRDA says tournament organizers didn't take sufficient steps to protect the fish during weigh-ins. The new regulations are in effect for all tournaments in July and August because the hot weather in those months tends to put more stress on fish.
The regulations include limits on the amount of fish each boat can catch and requires every participant must have a copy of fish care guidelines.
There were no problems at a fishing tournament on Grand Lake this past weekend.
