OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The late Warren Spahn is set to be immortalized today with the unveiling of a heroic-sized statue in his honor.

The RedHawks and the Oklahoma Centennial Commission will unveil the statute at 5:30 Saturday outside SBC Bricktown Ballpark. The area will be known as the Warren Spahn Plaza.

Spahn moved to Hartshorne in 1950 and died in 2003 in Broken Arrow.

Nearly 9 feet tall, the statue is identical to those previously installed at Turner Field in Atlanta and the Oklahoma Sports Museum in Guthrie.

Spahn won 363 major league games, a record for left-handed pitchers.
