Tulsa is a step closer to starting construction on the new downtown arena.

Demolition for the arena started earlier this year. Now, city and US Postal Service officials have agreed to a $1.9-million deal that gives the city 18 of the 19 tracts of land needed for the arena.

The city is negotiating to buy the final piece of property.

City officials say they expect to reach agreement with the General Services Administration in time to hold a scheduled August ground-breaking on the new arena.
