A fatal grassfire in Cherokee County Tuesday afternoon was sparked by a man welding.

The fire started near Peggs.87 year old Gerald Roth was welding on a fence post, which sparked the fire that killed him.

Investigators are waiting on the medical examiner to determine the cause of death.

The grassfire burned 150 acres.
