FREDERICK, Okla. (AP) _ Authorities say the sheriff of Tillman County was arrested for allegedly assaulting another person.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown says Frederick police officers took Billy Hanes into custody about 3 PM Friday at the Tillman County Courthouse.

Brown says once Hanes was arrested, the Frederick police chief and the Tillman County undersheriff called OSBI to investigate the case.

Brown didn't know if Hanes was still in custody Friday night.
