WASHINGTON (AP) _ President Bush honored two Oklahoma teachers with the 2005 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.

Math teacher Julie Owens from El Reno and science teacher Colleen Bennett [pictured] from Bartlesville were among 100 teachers across the nation to receive the award.

The two will receive a $10,000 grant from the National Science Foundation and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., for a week of celebratory events and professional development activities.

This year's recipients all teach grades seven through 12 and were recommended for the award by a panel of leading mathematicians, scientists and educators.
