The Stillwater community will join nationwide protests calling for justice for George Floyd’s death at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
According to the Stillwater News Press, the Police Department has been working hand in hand with the organizer, 17-year-old Stillwater High School student Emily Croft.
Stillwater police said demonstrators will gather in the 700 block of S. Lewis Street, right in front of city hall. Traffic and parking will be closed all day long.
On Facebook, Stillwater Police said if you need to get inside of City Hall, enter through the north side of the police department. In the post, The Stillwater Police Department said they stand with demonstrators and their message that everyone should be treated equally by police and rogue officers should be held accountable for their actions.
The Stillwater News Press reports Croft said she wanted to be clear that no one is upset with anyone in Stillwater.
“We are just stand up with our brothers and sisters. I don’t stand at all for harassing police officers,” said Croft.
Croft said she organized this rally because she wanted to participate in the protests, but they were all in other cities.
The paper also reports the Stillwater Police Department will reportedly have officers posted on top of buildings to keep an eye out for any trouble makers.
