On Thursday, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted to make 988 the new national Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
This comes after a bipartisan push from lawmakers, including Oklahoma Representative Tom Cole.
It will take time to activate the number, but it should be active by July of 2022.
