UPDATE: The judge has denied the motion to release the body camera footage of the officer shooting.
David Ware, the man accused of shooting two Tulsa police officers and killing one is expected back in court July 20.
Ware entered a not guilty plea last week but now his attorney's are asking for TPD to release the body camera video.
Tulsa police said Ware shot officer Aurash Zarkeshan and Sgt. Craig Johnson during a traffic stop earlier this month. Johnson later died from his injuries at a hospital.
Ware's attorney filed a motion last week asking prosecutors to release the body camera footage of the shooting. His attorney said the police report alleges Ware stood over Johnson and fired three more times after he was on the ground.
Later the Public Defender’s Office filed a notice of conflict of interest saying the claim has been "widely disseminated and has inflamed the public passions in this highly emotional case."
Ware's attorney said based on conversations with counsel, they believe this in an inaccurate depiction of what happened and want the video to be released.
They believe without this video, it will likely compromise the rights of both Ware and Matthew Hall.
Hall is accused of picking Ware up from the scene and is charged with being an accessory.
Hall and Ware are both currently being held in the Tulsa County Jail at the time of this report.
