The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Independence Police Department said they are investigating two deaths in Independence, Kansas.

Officials have identified the two victims as 27-year-old Tyler D. Cook and 24-year-old Rodricus A. Dawson, both from Independence.

Officials said that police received a 911 call early Friday morning from someone who said the y heard gunfire and saw a vehicle crash into an apartment.

When officers arrived, they said they found a crashed vehicle and two men dead. Officers said they also found an injured woman.

Officials said the woman was flown to a hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

Officials said no one in the apartment was injured.
