Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt said in a press conference on Tuesday that he would not issue a statewide mask mandate due to the fact that other states with mask mandates in place have higher numbers of COVID-19 cases per capita. Stitt said that it is up to everyone to be responsible and help stop the spread.

The Governor and hospital leaders once again urged Oklahomans on Tuesday to follow the "three Ws" of watching your distance, washing your hands and wearing a mask. They worry the healthcare system could be in trouble if case numbers do not go down.

"I think we've kind of taken our foot off the gas a little bit," said Stitt. "And I'm encouraging Oklahomans to really take this seriously at this point. I need their help to really slow the spread."

According to the Governor, he is prepared to Stop elective surgeries again if needed.
