Tulsa Community College officials have announced the start date of their upcoming spring semester as well as their goal of increasing the number of in-person classes offered to students.

TCC president and CEO, Dr. Leigh Goodson said that nearly 40% of students attended either in-person or blended (partially online and partially in-person) classes during the fall semester and according to Goodson, as daily life has adapted in the pandemic, students have said that they want more face-to-face class options.

According to TCC officials, the school is expecting to see 15,000 students enroll between their four campuses for the spring semester and they are striving to bring 50% of students back on campus for the spring.

TCC Vice President and Chief Academic Officer, Angela Sivadon, said they are looking forward to giving students the best and safest learning experience possible.

“Even though cases are getting higher, we’ve become better at our processes and procedures,” Sivadon said. “We feel confident in what we are doing, and we know there are more students now that want to come on to campus.”

250 classrooms and event spaces at TCC’s four campuses have been turned into physically distanced learning areas and school officials said that safety protocols at the school will remain in place, including a mask policy and mandatory physical distancing for all classrooms.

The TCC spring semester is scheduled to begin on January 19, 2021.
