Since March more than 10 million Americans have tested positive for COVID-19 and now the CDC is updating its guidelines regarding cloth masks.
The CDC insists that people who wear cloth masks not only protect others but themselves as well. According to the health agency, cloth masks have proven to filter out potentially infectious droplets from the air. This includes droplets from yourself and from others when doing things like coughing, sneezing, singing, talking and breathing.
The CDC now recommends people wear masks with multiple layers and higher thread counts. They also discourage the use of masks with valves on them, as they fail to stop particle spread.
Lastly, according to the CDC, adopting universal masking policies can help prevent future lockdown, especially if combined with physical distancing.
