A group called Parents’ Voice will hold a rally on the South Steps of the capitol Monday morning, to speak out about school board decisions being made across the state.
According to the Facebook event, the organizers want more say on the decisions made when it comes to school closures and virtual learning.
Many metro school districts have switched back to a completely virtual learning style, at least for now, because of the spike in COVID-19 cases.
One working parent out of Deer Creek says virtual learning isn’t logistically feasible for his family.
“Right now, decisions seem to be made by unions and other entities that are not taking into account what is best for children or best for parents. I fell like our system is broken and parents’ voice don’t matter. That has to change,” said Derek Lariviere.
During the rally, organizers said parents will be speaking with lawmakers and representatives with the governor’s office as well.
