Sen. Lankford Issues Statement: Opposes Mayorkas Confirmation As Head Of DHS

Oklahoma Senator James Lankford said that he is against the confirmation of Alejandro Mayorkas as the head of Homeland Security. Lankford said in part. "I opposed Mr. Mayorkas's nomination (today) because we need a strong southern border and enforcement of our immigration laws, not an open door for amnesty."

Oklahoma Senator James Lankford said that he is against the confirmation of Alejandro Mayorkas as the head of Homeland Security in a statement released on Tuesday.

Lankford said in part. "I opposed Mr. Mayorkas's nomination (today) because we need a strong southern border and enforcement of our immigration laws, not an open door for amnesty."

Mayorkas was confirmed in a 56-to-43 vote and is the first immigrant and the first Latino to lead the department.
