Tulsa Police are investigating a murder after officers say they found a person dead with a gunshot wound following a crash on Tuesday night.
According to police, officers received a call regarding a possible injury accident near 14th and Lewis around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
When they arrived on the scene they saw a black Lexus had crashed into a street sign and stopped in the middle of the road. Inside the car, officers said they found a man with a gunshot wound to the head.
Officers believe Hurd died as a result of the gunshot wound, not the vehicle accident.
Police closed the impacted section of Lewis for more than two hours to process the scene.
Currently, police are not sure if the man in the car was trying to get away from something and jumped the curb or if he went off the road because of his head injury.
Police ask that anyone with information call CrimeStoppers at (918) 596-COPS.
