The City of Oklahoma City is finalizing plans to cover the operating expenses for MAPS 4 projects.

For the first time, $106 million of MAPS 4 money will be privately invested like a pension fund.

Money earned on the investment will cover operating expenses.

“We will have millions of dollars spun off from this way beyond the end of the MAPS 4 collection without ever asking the taxpayer for another dime,” said OKC Mayor David Holt.

Holt believes the endowment will earn at least 4% annually on its investment.

A 7-member trust has just been appointed and will start interviewing money managers over the next couple of months.

The $979 million MAPS 4 includes 16 projects.
