The Tulsa Police Department says they have a man in custody after he broke into his sister's home and tried to hurt her.

Police say Vernon Neel has been booked on first-degree burglary complaints for breaking into his sister's home. According to police reports, officers were called to a home near Admiral and Sheridan for a burglary in progress around 6 p.m. on Sunday.

They say Neel kicked in the door to his sister's home and tried to break in to assault her over a money dispute of some sort, but she was able to call the police quickly. TPD says Neel ran away from the home when his sister told him she was on the phone with the police. When officers arrived they say they first made sure the woman was okay and then brought out a K-9 unit to search the neighborhood.

Neel was found six blocks away from the home.

Tulsa police say nobody was hurt in this break-in and Neel was arrested without incident.
