The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly incident that happened on the west end of downtown Monday.
Troopers say just before 7 a.m. they were called to the southbound lanes of the west leg of the Inner Dispersal Loop for an accident. When they arrived they found that 39-year-old Daniel Hindman of Sand Springs had been hit by what they think is possibly several cars traveling southbound. They say that Hindman may have been trying to cross the road when they were hit. Highway patrol shut down the IDL and diverted all traffic onto 2nd Street through downtown for about two hours, causing heavy backups during rush hour.
OHP says they will continue to investigate this scene.
“Obviously there is not a crosswalk out here this isn’t somewhere pedestrians should be walking across the interstate we’ve got vehicles going 55-65 miles an hour,” said Trooper Robbie Argo.
OHP is asking if anyone witnessed this accident this morning or has any information to please call them because they need as much information as they can get.
