The City of Tulsa is making some changes to its utility bills in May. Not only will the billing system change, but the billing format will also be different.

These changes will take effect May 1st, but you should get information before then about what exactly is changing.

The changes will take effect May 1, and are for people who pay their monthly bill via email or through regular mail.

When bills arrive for the month of April, you will notice an information insert attached. That will explain how to read your bills going forward.

The goal of these changes is to make your bill easier to understand.

Starting in May, you will notice your "amount due" is in a larger typeface, making it easier to see at first glance.

Your new bill will also show your water usage over the past year, letting you compare your water usage on a month-to-month basis.

If you elect to get your bill via email, you will see changes there as well. Each customer will get a new "Account ID" number and "Customer ID" number. Those new numbers are needed to log into the new online system and for when you call customer service.

The first day you can register for those IDs is May 3rd, which is the first business day of the month.

For those on AutoPay, you will not need to do anything different.
