After meeting for hours, Epic Charter Schools signed a settlement late Wednesday night to help it rebound from allegations of money misuse, and save the district from possible contract termination.
The settlement now faces final approval from the Statewide Virtual Charter School Board.
Epic says the settlement agreement reflects the exact terms proposed by the state on Tuesday.
One of the main changes in the agreement is to Epic Youth Services, the private company that manages the district and previously oversaw day-to-day operations. School personnel will now report to the superintendent and the board.
The district is also making spending information from the Epic Learning Fund more visible to the public starting July 1.
Epic says their goal is the quote "highest level of public transparency."
Under this agreement, students in Tulsa and Oklahoma Counties will continue under EPICs Blended Learning Charter. Which they say is not overseen by the state virtual charter school board.
