Nearly $10,000 worth of tools were stolen from a man who was visiting the Tulsa area for work.

Rick Medrano services medical helicopters for area hospitals and said in his 30 years of work, nothing like this has ever happened.

Medrano said his heart sunk when he walked outside and found that his tools were gone, and said he just wants them back.

"These are specialty that I've always bought as I've needed them over 20 years, I bought a tool here, I've bought a tool there, but it accumulates and in a split second they're gone," he said.

Medrano services medical helicopters in Tahlequah and McAlester and was staying the night in Muskogee. The tools are worth more than $10,000 and Medrano said he's angry someone would take them.

"This is the first time I didn't secure it down, and it got stolen, so I'm kind of mad at myself because of that," he said.

Medrano said without the tools he needs, it slows him down at work. Since he services medical helicopters, it could affect others too.

"To me, it's life and death situation, for a person that's really going to need a helicopter, and the helicopter isn't up, I'm very limited with what I can do," he said.

Medrano said he filed a report with Muskogee Police, and they are investigating. He thinks the tools are probably gone by now, but he's holding out hope they will be returned.

"No foul if he returns my tools, and if he needs help, there's help out there," Medrano said.
