The Cherokee Nation said it will give each of its citizens $2,000 in COVID-19 relief money.
The money is part of a $1.8-billion dollar COVID-19 recovery fun through President Biden's "American Rescue Plan Act." Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. says the money will be given to the citizens through two $1,000 payments over two years.
The other recovery funds will also go toward Cherokee-owned businesses, tribal healthcare services, and education support.
