President Joe Biden will visit Tulsa on June 1 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial, The White House has confirmed.
Tulsa's Mayor G.T. Bynum responded to President Biden's visit on social media.
"We are grateful that President Biden will join in the centennial commemoration of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. His visit honors our neighbors who were killed in this city’s worst moment and the work being done to build a better Tulsa for future generations," Bynum said.
The visit by President Biden is the first presidential visit to Tulsa since President Trump's 2020 campaign visit. Prior to these visits, George H.W. Bush was the last sitting president to visit the city.
