A Fairfax woman is in the hospital after her family said she was attacked by six of her neighbor's dogs.

Saundra Hemphill's daughter, Jerra Goodreau, said Saundra has a long road ahead and may have to have her leg amputated. She said it has been a nightmare for their family.

Goodreau said her mom was in her yard in Fairfax when she was attacked by her neighbor's six dogs.

"If this was a kid, the kid would not be alive," Goodreau said.

Goodreau said her mom had called police after the dogs were trying to get her dogs, and said police said they would send animal control.

While she was waiting, Goodreau said the dogs attacked. She said one of the dogs broke off the chain it was on and the rest followed.

"It broke off the chain and got a hold of her, and she said after that all the other dogs just started going crazy on her," she said.

She said her mom is in a lot of pain, and her leg might have to be amputated. She said you can see teeth marks from the dogs on her mom's body.

"She has bites all over her stomach, she has bites in her head, she has bites on both arms, one they've done surgery on, it's really bad," she said.

Goodreau said her mom is getting through this by the support and love of her family.

"The hospital said she ain't going anywhere, she's going to be in there a while," she said.
