Family, Friends Shocked By Murder Of Tulsa Musician Outside Bar

Family and friends said they are shocked by the murder of a local musician.

38-year-old Nathan Hull, who was also a father, was shot and killed Friday morning in the parking lot of DD's Double Shots near 11th and Sheridan. 

Coworkers said Hull worked at the bar for four years, mainly as a contractor for karaoke. Employees and customers stopped by there all day, hugging each other and leaving flowers.

A talented musician, loyal friend and proud father is how loved ones describe Hull.

“There were a lot of people in this community that loved him and are going to miss him very much,” said Jennifer Luong, the head bartender at DD's Double Shots.

Witnesses reported to police around 1:30 a.m. Friday, Hull and another customer saw 18-year-old Chris Bratton messing with cars outside the bar and told him to leave. 

Officers say that's when Bratton shot Hull. 

Customers then followed Bratton to a QuikTrip parking lot, where police arrested him on a first-degree murder complaint.

"And we want to make sure that justice is served for Nate,” said Luong. 

Luong said Hull was not even working at the time. She said he stopped by to see people and stepped in when he saw what happened.

“He was ferociously protective, but he always did it in such a way that everybody walked away without being hurt,” explained Luong. 

Now, loved ones are remembering Hull through his love for life and the music he shared.

DD's Double Shots, as well as Cimarron Bar in Tulsa, which are venues Hull enjoyed, are planning fundraisers to help Hull's family.
