Yukon Public Schools hosted their back-to-school breakfast for hundreds of teachers to kick off what they hope can be a normal school year. Something they were unable to do last year.

Yukon Schools will have in-person classes with a limitation on visitors in the school and the district. Masks will be optional for school districts in the state.

But for those parents who are concerned about their child’s mental health, outside resources are available to help.

"Go to the website it has a wealth of information on there. Everything from eLearning's about self-care or about interacting with your children during these stressful times," said Carrie Slatton- Hodges, the Commissioner of the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.

Resources have been available on the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services website.

The 211 hotline is also available for those with further questions and concerns.

The school districts hope to give kids what they need.

"They are so in need of kids their age. To be out and to be socializing," said Yukon Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jason Simeroth.

Ahead of the first day of school Thursday, Yukon PS said they will continue to monitor the changing situation and face it as it comes their way.
