Oklahoma County Detention Center Inmate Dies At Local Hospital

The Oklahoma County Detention Center said an inmate has died.

Officials said Jimmy Bedford, 60, died at a local hospital Tuesday.

Before a court appearance Tuesday at approximately 9:40 a.m. an officer noticed Bedford looked ill. He was taken to the medical unit for evaluation, according to the report. Authorities said while there, Bedford went into cardiac arrest.

CPR was administered and an ambulance was called.

Bedford was taken to a local hospital where he died.

Officials said Bedford was booked into the jail on July 20, 2021.

The Detention Center Special Investigations Unit will investigate the circumstance leading up to his death. The State Medical Examiner’s Office will make a final determination as to the cause of death.
