A local pastor has a message. Science and religion can go hand in hand.

"We have faith leaders who people trust who are putting out false information who are putting our these conspiracy theories. They are encouraging people to believe in that have no scriptural or have no faith base at all,” said Jeremy Coleman, a pastor at West Metro Community Church.

Coleman is now encouraging his congregation to get the COVID vaccine and wear masks.

Coleman said this is all about loving thy neighbor. His concern comes as certain faith leaders are buying into conspiracies that he thinks are harming others and causing a spread in misinformation.

He has been spreading this message using the social media app, Tik Tok.

Coleman said he is so passionate about this because his wife is a frontline worker. As a nurse, she has seen the toll the virus has had on our communities.

Vaccination numbers have been on the rise since the beginning of the month, with more than 70% of Oklahoma County residents reporting they have had at least one dose of the vaccine.
