OCPD Release Body Cam Footage Of Police Chase, Shooting

New video shows the tense moments leading up to a pursuit-turned-shootout with Oklahoma City Police. This all happened in Northwest Oklahoma City over Labor Day Weekend.

It started when 29-year-old Aaron Sayre led police on a chase in a stolen car. When officers caught up, he got out and started firing.

"Subjects armed with a handgun, he's got multiple felony warrants," said Sgt. Aaron Richards, with Oklahoma City Police. The incident was caught on Richard's body camera.

Sgt. Richards first spotted the vehicle near Memorial and Walker on Monday morning. The driver began to speed away, and the chase was on.

It ended after Sayre crashed near NW 143rd and Walker. That's when he gets out of his car and began shooting at Sgt. Richards.

"Shots fired, shots fired, he just shot at me, shots fired," said Richards.

Richards returned fire and Sayre ran off to a nearby neighborhood. Some neighbors said Sayre could be seen hopping a fence behind some of the homes in the area to get away as Richards worked to secure the area.

Police began their search for Sayer as investigators started to piece together the evidence. He was eventually found the next day near Northeast 10th and MLK and surrendered to U-S Marsal's and OKC Police.

He's now in the Oklahoma County Detention Center. Sayer had prior outstanding felony firearm and drug charges.
