Man Sentenced To Life For Pretending To Be Spiritual Advisor To Sexually Abuse Young Girl

An Ottawa County man who pretended to be a Native American spiritual advisor so he could groom and sexually abuse a young girl is going to federal prison for the rest of his life.

Prosecutors called Carl Ortner a “wolf in sheep’s clothing.”

Ortner has no tribal citizenship and lied about his credentials to take advantage of his victim.

In addition to sexual abuse, Ortner was convicted to illegally having talons, feathers and heads from several bald and golden eagles.
