The City of Tulsa is partnering with Root Tulsa to launch online self-guided tours for people who want to learn more about Tulsa's historic landmarks.

City leaders say this is a way for local Tulsans and visitors to learn and appreciate Tulsa on a deeper level.

Right now, the two tours available are for Route 66 and the Greenwood District.

Tours can be accessed by scanning a QR code from a decal sticker or flyer at the sites.

Visitors can also go to Roottulsa.com and access the QR codes there.

The city says it has averaged 20,000 visitors on the website a month since May of this year.

Tulsa City Councilor Jeannie Cue says she hopes these tours can leave a lasting impression on people.

"When people come to visit sites...not always our best day in Tulsa, but things that we need to remember so it's never repeated....that they can learn about," Cue said.

City leaders say they are looking at other spots like Guthrie Green and the Center of the Universe as other places that can get QR codes.
