The City of Tulsa is preparing to begin a $30 million, two-year-long road widening project on South Yale Avenue, between 81st and 91st on Signal Hill.

The new road will be six lanes instead of two, the curves will be straighter, and the peak of the road will be 12’ lower than it is now. The project requires the removal of four houses, and for at least four months, the road will be blocked entirely.

Construction Manager Elliott Stiles said though concrete retaining walls as high as 25’ will be needed in places, the City plans to install extensive landscaping, and median planters, to improve the looks of the new road. The city estimates the work will be done by September of 2023.
