The gates of Oktoberfest are now open, and people are making their way over to Tulsa’s Riverwest Festival Park.

The food vendors are preparing to serve and if you’re coming out looking for beer, there are more than 80 brands on tap.

Thursday, gates opened at Riverwest Festival Park for the 42nd Linde Oktoberfest.

“We’ve sent 330 gallons to this festival and it will all be consumed pretty quickly," said Austin McIlroy with Cabin Boys.

This is the third year McIlroy has been part of Oktoberfest. He said it's something that is especially meaningful to him.

“My certificate of master brewship is from Germany, so my wife and I lived in Germany and experienced that culture," said McIlroy.

More than 80 beer brands and 300 taps are available in the 10 tents.

“Everyone has been so enthusiastic, all of our participants. So that’s been fabulous," said Tonja Carrigg, festival director.

Carrigg said thousands of people are expected to attend each day.

“We are seeing people travel to Linde Oktoberfest because the Munich Oktoberfest was canceled for the second year in a row," said Carrigg.

McIlroy said he can't even express how excited he is for this weekend.

“And have our beer at an Oktoberfest that’s so well respected and renowned,” McIlroy said. “The words aren’t best suited for how that feeling is.”
