The clemency hearing for death row inmate Julius Jones has been moved to November 1. Now, his supporters are coming together to host a vigil for the man they say is innocent.

Jones’ supporters will hold a vigil on Tuesday morning at the Tabernacle Baptist Church.

The Justice for Julius organization said in a statement, “This is extremely frustrating for them (the family) and for Julius personally, who has been waiting 20 plus years to tell his story."

Jones will have to wait another week for his final chance to argue for his life before the pardon and parole board.

At their last hear, the board recommended Jones be taken off of death row for the 1999 killing of Edmond businessman, Paul Howell.

The Howell family will also have a chance to speak at the pardon and parole board hearing.

In a statement from the Paul Howell family, "This has been an extremely difficult process on our family and so many other homicide victims' families… We are hopeful that the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board will reconsider their position..."

The clemency hearing is set for Monday, November 1. Governor Kevin Stitt will have the final say on the execution.
