A prayer rally will be held at the steps of the capitol Friday morning, focusing on death row inmate Julius Jones.
Several pastors from around Oklahoma City will be praying for Governor Stitt and his decision with Julius Jones.
For many of the pastors that will be at the capitol Friday morning, they are praying that Governor Kevin Stitt follows the pardon and parole board's recommendation and grants clemency to Jones.
Julius Jones was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to death in 1999 killing of Edmond businessman Paul Howell
Earlier this week, the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole board voted to recommend both clemency for Jones and to commute his sentence to live in prison with the possibility of parole.
Now the final decision is in the hands of the Governor.
One of the pastors says it is one of the biggest decisions he'll ever have to make as Governor of Oklahoma.
"It's in the hands of the governor now, of course we are lifting him up in prayer that he will have spiritual strength and direction as he makes decision," said Dr. John A. Reed, Jr. from Fairview Baptist Church.
The Governor only has less than 2 weeks to make his decision, Jones's execution is set for November 18th.
