Jenks Public Schools announced on Monday that it would be transitioning a portion of its students to distance learning due to a high number of staff absences.
The district will transition students at West Elementary, West Intermediate and all students in grades nine through 12 to distance learning from Tuesday, January 11 through Friday, January 14.
The shift will impact students at the following locations:
The district says by making the transition, it can reassign substitutes and personnel to provide coverage in areas where staff is needed.
According to the district, all other JPS locations will remain open this week for in-person learning, however, more transitions may need to be made by the district if more staff absences arise.
Students attending the following schools will not be impacted by the transition:
Students in distance learning can still pick up free meals on the north side of the Central Campus Dining Hall at Jenks High School from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Jenks Public school says all extracurricular activities will continue as planned during the distance learning period.
